Dieser 190SL wurde im März 1956 für den amerikanischen Markt gebaut, seit Produktionsstart 1955 waren vor ihm rund 2800 Fahrzeuge vom Band gelaufen. Damit zählt er zu den recht "frühen" 190SL, was im Laufe der Restaurierung noch häufiger Beachtung finden wird.
Schon vor Jahren wurde eine Restaurierung ins Auge gefasst, deshalb lagerte der Wagen teilzerlegt. Motor und Achsen sind noch montiert, sodass die Verladung für die Reise nach Deutschland auf eigenen Rädern stattfinden konnte.

Die Karosserie ist mit montiertem Softtop ausgeführt, Aggregate (wie z.B. der Motor mit den original Solex-Vergasern) scheinen zum Fahrzeug und Jahrgang zu passen.
Der Meilentacho (hier mit 98.000 Laufleistungsanzeige) ist wie die anderen Instrumente ("Fuel", "°Fahrenheit") zusammen mit den Sealed Beam Scheinwerfern typische USA-Ausstattung. Die Radioschacht-Abdeckung täuscht: der rechte Kotflügel hat ein Antennenloch.
Die Lackierungsplakette zeigt "Kunstharz 50" (=weiß).
